Mr. Alvin Dennis Crooms was born on June 11, 1960, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Major Crooms, Jr. and Elizabeth Gwendolyn Crooms. He attended the public schools of Duval County and dedicated more than 30 years of faithful service to the City of Jacksonville Tax Collector’s Office, where he served as Assistant to the Tax Collector. Alvin was known for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to serving the citizens of Jacksonville with excellence.

Above all else, Alvin loved the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life and guided him in the way he loved, served, and cared for others. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and compassionate heart touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, called Alvin from labor to eternal rest. While our hearts grieve his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he is at peace in the presence of his Savior.

Alvin leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving and devoted wife, Jackie Crooms; his three beloved daughters, Stephanie Crumbley (Randy), Caressa Rosier, and Alexis Sykes, all of Jacksonville, Florida; and his seven cherished grandchildren, Nichole Keith, James Bellinger, Danielle Rosier, Cameron Crumbley, Mya Rosier, Aria Campbell, and Alani Campbell.

He also leaves behind his loving brother, Darryl Crooms (Wendy) of Orlando, Florida; his sisters, Wanda Crooms of Conyers, Georgia, and Cassandra Russ (Michael) of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother-in-law, Ricky Williams (Melody) of Jacksonville, Florida; along with a host of beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and cherished friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Alvin’s life was a beautiful example of faith, dedication, humility, and unconditional love. He leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and devotion that will continue to inspire his family and all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his love and the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever.

Mr. Crooms, may be viewed on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Logan Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32204 and the interment will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
