Carrie Bell Chance was born on May 25, 1932, to Willie Purdy and Doris Purdy in Bradford, Florida. She attended Central Academy in Palatka, Florida. She then became a chef at the Holiday Inn where she enjoyed putting a smile on people's faces. She later became a Real Estate Investor.

Mrs. Carrie married the love of her life, the late Mr. Alex Chance Sr., and together they had seven children. She attended Greater New Mount Lilla Missionary Baptist Church; where she sang in the choir and served on the missionary board. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening.

On December 16, 2025, Mrs. Carrie gained her wings and will be reunited in heaven with her husband Alex Chance, Sr., children, Christopher Chance, Henry Chance, Sr., and Curtis Chance; brothers, Willie Junior Purdy, and James Purdy.

Mrs. Chance leaves to cherish her memories: children, Álex Jr., Anthony Sr., Judy, and Cynthia Lee (Philip); nine grandchildren, Tamika, Anthony Jr., Holly, Henry Jr., Isaiah, Shartel, Shakita, Phil' leshia, and La'Rhonda; four sisters, Nita Bryant, Lula Hamilton, Jaretta Cook, and Carrie Mae Purdy; she also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended loved ones.

Mrs. Chance may be viewed on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m.   Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Greater New Mt. Lilla Baptist Church, 2061 Frank E Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32208, and the interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
