Earnest Mutch was born on June 27, 1948, to the late Benjamin Mutch and the late Cora Lee Mutch in Greenville, Florida.
He graduated from Greenville Training School in 1966 and joined the United States Army after graduation. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1972. He started his career with Trailways Bus Company and later joined Greyhound Bus Company. He retired from the City of Jacksonville after thirty-two years of dedicated service.
Earnest was a man of unwavering faith. He was a faithful member of Young Reaper Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville as a youth. As an adult, Earnest joined Greater New Mt. Lilla Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville where he served as a devoted servant of God. He was ordained as a Deacon in 2023. He was a guiding light, a source of strength and a great communicator to all who knew him. Ernest's commitment to God and his service to others were the foundation of his life. He touched countless lives with his humility, kindness, and maintenance skills.
Earnest was a devoted and loving husband to his wife and a loving father to his children and grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy. He was a role model for his children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of love, integrity, and service. His legacy, kindness, and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. In addition to his work within the church, Earnest was a tireless advocate for those in need, always willing to lend a hand, to fix, or repair. His selflessness and dedication to improving the homes and lives of others will forever be remembered.
Earnest departed this life on November 14, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie Clarence and Calvin Mutch.
He leaves to cherish with loving memories a devoted and loving wife, Monica Reddick Mutch; children, Altemlia Danielly, Thamar Mutch, Robert (Tammy) Mutch, Freddie Mutch, Joshua Mutch, and Brandon Mutch; twenty grandchildren; three sisters, Mynor Chapman of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Barney of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Ida Francis Barnes of Tampa, Florida; sisters-in-law, Angela Kaphers, Rebecca Lockley, and Teresa Reddick; brothers-in-law, Willard Reddick, Jerome Reddick, Donald Reddick, and Dwight Reddick; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Mutch may be viewed on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Greater New Mt. Lilla Baptist Church, 2061 Frank E Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32208 from 5:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Greater New Mt. Lilla Baptist Church, 2061 Frank E Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32208 and the interment will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
