Dr. Essie Mae Williams Bacon was born July 10, 1935, in Lollie, Georgia to the parents George and Addie Williams. She was one of four children. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1965 for better job opportunities.
Dr. Essie Mae Bacon was educated in Dublin, Georgia in her early years and received her Doctor of Theology from Thomas Brown Bible College in Jacksonville, Florida in 2015.
Dr. Essie Mae Bacon gave her life to Christ at a young age at Evergreen Missionary Baptist church in Jacksonville, Florida and in 1991 she became a member of Faith Temple Fellowship Ministries in Jacksonville, Florida, where Archbishop Dr. Gregory Davis is Pastor.
She earned her Bachelor of Theology at Logos Christian College, Master of Theology at Thomas Brown Bible College, Doctor of Theology at Thomas Brown Bible College, and earned a certificate of Christian Counseling from FACCT of Florida. She also served with the Pastors Aids, Prayer Warriors, Deaconess and Women's Ministries, until her demise. She was employed with K and G Box Manufacturing Company in Jacksonville for many years and retired in 1979 from Sears & Roebuck Distribution Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dr. Essie Mae Bacon Loved to Serve the Lord with joy and her whole heart. Baking was her favorite outlet, and she made sure her family, friends and church got cakes each time they wanted or needed them. Her acts of kindness were both quiet and profound. She held a deep love for her family and her church family. She was known for her warm spirit and generous heart. She ministered to all and was a part of several prayer lines daily and studied God's word faithfully.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Addie Williams; husband James Bacon; sister Beatrice Ricks; and brothers George, Jr. and Joseph Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Walter (Renee'), Pasco (Myrna), Gail, Willie (Betty), Curtis (Judy), Ronald (Marvette), Wanza (Anita), Regenia, Ricky (Lori). Twenty-Seven grandchildren, Thirty-two great-grandchildren, Ten great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Mother Essie leaves a legacy of faith, strength and love. She was a survivor of breast cancer. She trusted God throughout her life, and her memory will forever be a blessing.
Mrs. Bacon may be viewed on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Faith Temple Fellowship Ministries, 2133 Wishart Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32207 and the interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery South.
