He was educated in the Duval County Public School system and retired from Volkswagen of America.

*There is a time to Die. *

Mr. Smith passed away on September 17, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ethel Pritchard, Samuel Smith, and Robert Potts.

*There is a time to Reap What is Planted. *

Mr. Smith was a dedicated member of Queen Esther Church of God and Unity. He loved reading his Bible, family, football, cars, playing pool, and vacationing in the mountains.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Bertha Smith; children Bishop Darrell Coats, Evangelist Deloris Coats, David Gettis, Tracey Smith, and Rena Smith.

He is also survived by his brother Wendell Smith (Judy), sister Rhunell Wilson (Greg), Wanda Lynch, Tammie Law (Andrew), Darlene Addison, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.

Mr. Smith may be viewed Friday, October 9, 2026, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Greater Hope Ministries, Inc., 925 Edgewood Avenue West, Jacksonville, Florida 32208 and the interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
