In Loving Memory of David Mercer
June 13, 1955 – September 29, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved David Mercer on September 29, 2026. David was a devoted dad, Papa, Grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend—a hardworking and talented man whose greatest pride and joy was always his family.
David was a welder by trade, and he was incredibly proud of the work he did. He welded and built the enormous buckets used on Caterpillar front-end loaders. Building things was simply part of who David was. He loved working on and fixing cars. He enjoyed woodworking and could seemingly find a way to make or fix just about anything. One of his unexpected passion was quilting.
David was preceded in death by his parents Jack H. Mercer and Viola Eulane Todd.
David is survived by his siblings Pawnee (James), Austin (Gail), Robin (David), and Angela. He was a loving father to Stacey (Teresa) and Shannon (Johnny), and his son, Josh (Tiffany). He was an especially proud Papa and Grandpa to his six granddaughters: Jessika, Alexia (Cody), Abigail, Alyssa, Addison, and Ava. His family continued to grow with his three greatgrandchildren, Declan, Bexley, and Ezekiel, who brought even more love and joy into his life.
David leaves behind so much more than the things he built, welded, repaired, sewed, or created. He leaves behind the pieces of himself that he poured in to those who loved him. We would give anything for one more joke, one more story, one more Christmas together, or simply one more chance to tell him how much we love him. We love you and we will carry you with us always.
Visitation for Mr. Mercer will be held Sunday, October4, 2026, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, from 2:00 pm until 3:00pm
