The Life of Mari

Jamari Rashaud Akins, affectionally known as "Mari" age 20 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Born on Sunday, September 12, 2004, Jamari was a vibrant and energetic soul. He was the beloved son of Shenika and Travis and was raised with love by his devoted stepfather Shaunta and Shineka, his strong nurturing mother. From a young age, Jamari was full of life. He had a deep love for music and video games, and he carried an infectious sense of humor, always ready to turn any moment into a laugh. A true natural-born comedian, Mari had the unique gift of bringing joy and light to every room he entered.

He lived boldly, loved deeply and laughed loudly. Jamari leaves behind his loving mother Shenika, fathers Shaunta and Travis, "his right-hand man", his brother Jacoby, big sister Aliyah, oldest brother Lil Travis, younger brother Travaris, and youngest sister Saniyah. He was the proud father of two beautiful daughters, Icelynn and J'rya who will always carry his light within them. He also leaves behind his grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and a host of friends who were a part of the village that deeply loved him and supported him. Jamari was truly loved. He will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1329 North Market Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206.
