Larry Bernard Lawrence, Jr. was born on September 8, 1976 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the public schools and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School where he excelled in football and went on to graduate in 1995. He served his country valiantly in the Iraqi war known as “Desert Storm,” as a Marine in active combat.

Following the war, he returned home to pursue a career in football, serving on several semi-pro football teams. He passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026 after a lengthy illness. Larry was predeceased by his brother, Torrin Lawrence. He leaves behind a loving family:

Five children: Jalen & Javon Lawrence (Danielle), Javarious Lawrence (Jonetta), Jace Lawrence (Addie) and Kerriab Lawrence (Katya). Sisters: Lakeisha, Sheena, Larreka, Kreytesa and Latasha. Brothers: Shannon, Shaunta, and Derek. His parents, Denise & Reverend Shannon Johnson. Grandmother, Louise Lawrence, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunties and many sorrowing friends, including a very special friend, Monique West.

Mr. Lawrence may be viewed Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 1329 North Market Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206 and the interment will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
