Deaconess Louise Patton was born in Archer, Florida, to the late Ed and Nellie Moss. She was the youngest of seven children. She was grounded in the teachings of the gospel from an early age, then baptized at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; two brothers (Joe Coleman & Louis Coleman), and one sister (Mamie King).
At a young age, Louise met the love of her life, Deacon Willie Patton. Their marriage spanned more than sixty years, and they were blessed with two children. Their union together was a testament of enduring love, faith, and commitment.
As a devoted military wife, Sister Patton faithfully supported her husband throughout his distinguished military service. Their journey carried them to numerous duty stations across the country that included Kentucky, North Carolina, California, Texas, Virginia and Florida. Through each transition, she remained steadfast in her faith and unwavering in her commitment to God.
While in Florida, Sister Patton and her husband sought a church home where they could continue their spiritual walk and service. They found that home at Greater Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church known as a place "where no one is a stranger," under the leadership of Pastor W. O. Tucker, Sr.
Sister Patton became a pillar of service and her husband faithfully served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. Sister Patton served with equal dedication as President of the Deaconess Board and the Hospitality Committee. She gave selflessly of her time, never hesitated to serve wherever there was a need.
Her acts of kindness were both quiet and profound. She held a deep love for her church family. Known for her warm spirit and generous heart.
On Sunday, April 5, 2026—Resurrection Day—Deaconess Louise Patton peacefully departed this life. Her legacy of faith, service, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply and truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted husband, Willie Patton; her daughter, Michelle Patton, her son, Jabari Patton (Kathleen); her grandchildren, Esha Patton, Nina Taggart (Sean), and Noah Patton; her great-grandchildren, Tolu Idowu, Eni Idowu, Keagan Taggart, Emerson Taggart; her brothers, Eddie Moss (Roneder) and Johnnie Moss; her sister, Regenia Clayton; her sister-in-law, Octavia Coleman; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Patton may be viewed on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Greater Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. Until 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Greater Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the interment will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
