Obituary
Deaconess Precola Shelly Lanier, the daughter of the late Joe Jackson and Annie Taylor, was born on February 6, 1950, in Sylvester, Georgia. She was one of five children.
Deaconess Precola was affectionally known as "Pea" attended and graduated from the local schools of Sylvester, Georgia. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she met and married Charles Lanier in 1985. She was a member of Greater Zion Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.O. Tucker, Sr. and was a member of the Mass Choir. She was employed as a custodian by the Duval County School Board. After retiring, she loved traveling, taking trips, and fishing, but her best hobby was family. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
Her memories will live on in the hearts of her beloved husband, Charles Lanier; daughters, Rebecca Robinson, Za'Kayle Lanier; sons, Tony Jackson (Lajiaya), of Rochester, New York, and Jonathan Lanier; sister, Fannie Corbett (Mike) of Avon Park, Florida; grandchildren, Michael Robinson (Alexis), Aaron Robinson, Christopher Robinson, Latrice Johnson, Taneci Khaler, Toilicia Walker, Max Coleman, Traycee Jackson, Dy, mond Nelson, Heaven Nelson, Ramon Gibson; great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, and a special daughter and son Shamiraca Taylor and Quayvion Taylor.
Mrs. Lanier may be viewed on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Greater Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 6317 118th Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32244 and the interment will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2025, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
