Rosetta Guyton-Mizell was born in Lake Worth, Florida to Nora Jordan and Joe Matthews. Due to the untimely death of her mother, she was raised in Jacksonville by her maternal grandmother, W. B. McIntosh.
She was educated in the local schools, graduating from Englewood Senior High School in 1979. Rosetta received her bachelor's degree in education from Edward Water's College and later her master's in education from Nova University. For thirty years she taught Mathematics in the Duval County School System, retiring due to illness.
A beautiful life of 64 years ended on June 22, 2025.
Rosetta leaves to cherish her memories; her son, Joseph Coffey; siblings, Thomas Jordan, Joann Sapp, and Andrew Guyton; niece, Jessica Guyton; nephews Chris and Cyrus Sapp (Essence); special friend and caregiver, Hernando Grandison; great nieces, cousins, many friends and associate.
Ms. Guyton-Mizell may be viewed on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at The Bethel Church, 215 Bethel Baptist Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202, Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Jr., Senior Pastor, Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr., Pastor Emeritus, and the interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
