Obituary

Sherman was born March 8, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois to Betty Hopkins and the late Sherman Hopkins, Jr. He attended school in Chicago before the family relocated to Fernandina Beach, Florida where he graduated from Fernandina Beach High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. He received many awards during his enlistment. After his departure from army, he returned home to Fernandina Beach, later relocating to Jacksonville, Florida.

Sherman had many trades, he worked as an electrical apprentice, machinist, and as a forklift driver for Paradies at Jacksonville International Airport, however he resigned due to his illness.

Sherman was an avid football fan and during football season you could always find him in front of the tv cheering on his favorite team, the Chicago Bears. When they weren't playing, he cheered on all the teams because football was his favorite pastime. Sherman was a member of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church where he attended in person and online.

Sherman will always be remembered as a loving, kind and unselfish person. He is survived by his wife Vicky, daughter, Lazanaye; children he loved as his own, Delray Hutchinson (Tomasa), George Riley, La'Nautica Fleming, Janae Long, and her son Patrick Jones, Jr; his mother Betty; brother Reginald Brown (Susie); aunts Jalena Stafford, and Evelyn Dallas, brothers-in-law, Darryl Ransom, Ronald Ransom (Vonda), Rodney Ransom (Shantoria); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted cousin Yvonne Zachery and devoted friend Lorraine Thomas.

Although he is no longer with us, the love he shared will always be remembered.
