Virginia W.
Smith Daise
Sep 1, 1942 — Jan 22, 2026
Virginia W. Smith Daise was born on September 1, 1942, in Glenwood, Georgia to the late Orzia and Reaver Williams (deceased).
Virginia departed this life at her home on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
As a young child, she knew she wanted to serve Christ and started attending Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church (6th Street and Lee Street) and was later baptized by Reverend H. H. Robinson, April 1955.
Virginia attended Duval County public schools, graduating from Stanton Vocational. She went on to complete the nursing program in 1969. Virginia began her career at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville (MHJ) for 32 years, starting in the Maternity Ward (OB/GYN) and retiring as an integrant part of the Operating Room (OR) surgical team where she met and cared for many patients and their families, whose lives and hearts she touched and help heal.
She was a faithful member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church (MSMBC – "The Mount") until her home-going under the tutelage of Reverend Doctor Reginald L. Gundy.
Virginia was a member of Usher Board #3, and District #3 for many years. She would assist in any capacity needed without hesitation.
Virginia leaves to cherish her loving memories: devoted daughters, JoAnn Smith of Georgia, and Teresa Smith Butler (Tony), two grandsons, Jonté (Lisa), and Randen Butler, two great-grand daughters, Jaidyn and Kyleigh Butler of Maryland.
Virginia had three brothers, David Lee Sr. (Deceased) - (Cloria), Willie Dean (Paulette) and Michael R. Williams, of Jacksonville, FL. Two sisters, Linda A. Ford and Veronica K. Brinson (Deceased), and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and associates.
Although our mother loved and cherished each of her nieces and nephews dearly, Quiana Williams Dorcelus (Gainesville, FL), was more of a daughter than a niece to her. May God continue to shine his ever-loving-light upon you Quiana.
